It’s a fully packed That Real Blind Tech Show lair as the entire gang of Brian, Ed Allison, and Jeanine are all here to discuss a recap of the NFB Conference and some other current tech topics.
We start off with the very self indulgent uber exciting news that we have finally launched our own website, www.BlindTechShow.com. Brian learned if you don’t capitalize the letters to our name, it sounds very weird in the outline for the show. A very special thanks to friend of the podcast, David Goldstein for building our website. Check it out, we guarantee you will love it.
The iOS, iPad, and we think Mac OS public betas are now live. Will you be a beta tester or not? We then talk about AppleVis finally getting with the times and finally allowing beta testers to discuss the beta operating systems on their website.
YouTube is finally rolling out picture and picture on its iOS app, but none of us are happy about it.
Conference season is mostly over. We start off discussing how each conference handled hosting a conference as we continue to live in a pandemic world. We get Jeanine’s thoughts about what she got to check out and enjoy at this year’s NFB Conference, besides coming home with Covid. Jeanine walks us through all the Braille, yes, Braille with a capital B, devices that she got to put her hands on at the conference. And yes, she asked permission before touching any of them!
With both the ACB and the NFB presenting resolutions to Congress to help improve the lives of the blind and visually impaired, are they canceling each other out by not having one direct united approach to Congress?
We discuss this year’s NFB resolutions, and would have posted the link in the demo, but at the time of writing this the NFB’s website now says page not found when trying to read this year’s resolutions. Hmm, very strange stuff.
We threw this article in to our discussion of the NFB’s Resolutions 13 and 14 about Lift and Uber, as CNN published this fantastic article about how ride share services are still failing disabled customers.
Even though Amazon Prime Day has come and gone, we discuss what we purchased this year, or didn’t purchase.
We then discuss why bluetooth remains an incredibly frustrating technology after two decades, and who bluetooth is named for.
