That Real Blind Tech Show

Nov 23, 2022

It’s an all new That Real Blind Tech Show, and it is amazing how often podcasts imitate life. On our last episode we discussed the blind woman who was not allowed on an Air Canada flight with her guide dog. Well, Brian just was extremely hassled by JetBlue when checking in for his most recent flight about his guide dog and new policies that JetBlue has initiated for people traveling with guide dogs. Amazingly, it is not JetBlue’s responsibility to alert you of these new regulations, you are just suppose to magically know them on your own. Ed and Brian discuss this experience before the gals jump on. Brian and Ed discuss how airlines are utterly failing people with disabilities.

We briefly discuss the latest people fleeing Twitter, and Brian mentions a little bit about the upcoming Sight Tech Global which you can register to virtually attend for free here.

We then move on to discussing iOS 16 and the new feature that allows you to control your iPhone from your Apple Watch and vice versa. Next we discuss iOS 16.2 and the report that there will be a new accessibility mode introduced. Is that a good thing?

With the holidays here we thought we should discuss what all of us pack in our tech go gear. Not to worry no clothes discussed here, just tech stuff. Sorry no time to put the products discussed in the show notes with links as Brian has been on a time crunch and wanted to get the episode out. If you are interested in a product we discussed and you cannot find it on Amazon, drop us an email and we will find the link for you.

We then discuss Brian’s recent visit to the eye doctor and try and understand how in the world people who work at a world renown eye hospital can be so utterly clueless when it comes to helping guide a blind person around.

No surprise, as a couple of Senators have once again drawn up a bill requiring all websites and mobile applications to be fully accessible.

And it’s more of What’s Pissing Off Brian Now and Watcha Streaming, Watcha Reading.
