That Real Blind Tech Show

Oct 14, 2021

It’s an all new That Real Blind Tech show. Pinch hitting for Ed is Joe Steinkamp who joins Brian and Allison in the virtual studio to discuss all the latest greatest tech news.

It’s the hundred year anniversary of the white cane . Is it time for a robotic cane, and would you trust it?

Twitter is developing a pop up to warn people who are too stupid to realize they are about to get in to a Twitter beef!

GoodMaps is now free on both iOS and Android. The app is off to a good start  with outdoor mapping, but the future could be in indoor mapping.  Our conversation strolls in to some of our other favorite navigation apps including Blind Square GPS, Google Maps, Lazarillo, Microsoft Soundscape, and a mention of Apple Maps.

Because we have Joe here, we figured we would speak a little Microsoft, it also helped that Microsoft had a slew of announcements over the past few weeks. Have you installed Windows 11 yet? Joe explains to us some of the new designs to Windows 11.

We then jump in to Microsoft’s version of the iPad and mass confusion the name of all the Surface devices.  And yes, after hearing Joe explain them all, Brian felt like his head was going to explode.

If the Surface line wasn’t confusing enough, try figuring out all the different Microsoft Office packages now available. Our favorite is the Ewok Office.

It wasn’t all Microsoft as Amazon had a slew of announcements. The most notable, Astro. Will this be a help to the blind or just a giant hinderance? This leads us to discuss how much information is too much information?

And it’s more of What’s Pissing Off Brian Now and Watcha Streaming Watcha Reading.
