That Real Blind Tech Show

Jul 11, 2022

Brian and Ed welcome in Rodney Edgar to the That Real Blind Tech show lair for another Trendsetters episode.

Rodney began podcasting back in 2009 with the show Tech Access Weekly. We find out how Rodney and his wife Erin started the show, what gave them the idea for the podcast, and what tools they were using back then to produce the podcast. Rodney walks us through his workflow of putting the show together.

That’s right, Brian let it slip out, as Blindtechshow.com will be launching some time this week, so check back soon. And as we launch our website for our show, we find out what caused the demise of Tech Access Weekly.

We discuss the fun of going to the ATM when you are blind as Rodney used to work in banking and ATM coding.

Rodney then explains to us how he ended up on the Podcast High Contrast. Rodney walks us through reviewing products and software and being brutally honest about it all to their listeners.

We find out how Rodney got in to a career in coding and web design. He shares with us some of the biggest accessibility design issues facing developers.

We discuss how podcasting has evolved, and how advertising is ruining a lot of podcasts.

Rodney shares his advice for those low vision and blind people wanting to get in to a career in web development.

You can keep up with Rodney on Twitter.
